Back In The Red Sea

What a thrill it is to dive into the Red Sea waters. Each time I am happy and excited, and I know I will see beautiful sealife, maybe a few new species… and all those wonderful, colorful corals, that Red Sea still has.

Here are a few of my new underwater photos:

Exciting and beautiful Red Sea Underwater World

What a thrill it is to dive into the Red Sea waters. Each time I am thrilled and excited, and I know I will see beautiful sealife, but maybe also something a bit exciting…

Here is two gorgeous Masked Butterflyfish. I edited the silver like sand to turquoise.

In Egypt and Jordan, you can also enjoy sandy dunes, if you do not want to enjoy the thrills and joys of the Red Sea.

I marked with purple balls the places in the Red Sea, where we have been to.

Sometimes I meet the Giant Moray. It is not something I actually want, as this huge predator is not calm and shy, it is a predator that will attack you if you go and disturb it. It hunts at night, but during the day you can see it swimming from one hiding place to another.

We have enjoyed many great breakfast , lunch and dinner meals in Egypt and Jordan. The variety is quite big, sometimes huge, and especially the oriental dishes or sauces are fantastic. Sometimes we choose anyway just a quick, small burger, after photographing in the sea, and the take a nap.

It is wonderful to take a walk in the early evening, after the hottest hours are behind us. But before 6 PM when the sun sets quickly.

Once we flew home just before the sunset. The sunsets are so beautiful in Egypt and Jordan.

The Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh

A little over 1 year ago, I read about a fantastic place in Egypt. The Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh.

Located directly upon the shore of the Red Sea, a comfortable thirty minutes from the centre of Hurghada, The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh is a spectacular, forty eight acre, all suite hotel, with a certified PADI dive centre and a large private beach.

Inspired by traditional Arabic designs, our luxury hotel in Sahl Hasheesh has luxurious accommodations and restaurants which feature classical, domed ceilings and long corridors. They are illuminated by Arabic style lamps and framed by elegant columns decorated with the traditional Islamic eight point star.

We offer all guests complimentary access to high speed Internet for up to four devices.

Our dream was to visit this fantastic hotel and dive into the Red Sea with our cameras.

Our dream came true in March 2018. And again in March 2019!

The Oberoi is such a magnificent place, I can warmly recommend a short or a long vacation at this beautiful Five Star All Suite Hotel!

sahl-haseesh-home-banner-2If you  like a peaceful and beautiful pool area and beach, rather than a very crowded one, you will love Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh. The seaview is amazing. The waves touch gently the wonderful sandy beach. And there is plenty of space for all visitors to sunbathe on the beach. They have also great service also at the beach. Towels, sunchairs, water and even sunscreen. And the suites, the service and the food… they are magnificent and wonderful!

A Beautiful And Peaceful Morning Moment.jpgIf you like to swim in the sea, snorkel and watch the wonderful Red Sea underwater world, you can do so very easily from the pier. There is also the possibility to scubadive. We like freediving and photographing underwater.

Awarded underwater photography

We love to photograph in the Red Sea. Which my travel blog followers know well by know. 🙂

It is such a joy to dive into the Red Sea and explore the sealife, the underwater world, which is so beautiful, silent and fantastic. Totally amazing.

What a joy it is for a photographer, to receive an award and a recognition, and this from National Geographic.

My underwater macrophotograph received first an editor’s note and was soon chosen by National Geographic editors as 1 of the Daily Dozen (best photos) January 30, 2019.

This underwater view looks like a painting! The colors blend together like an impressionist’s brush strokes. Great work getting sharpness in the fish’s eyes.

Here is the photo:
Whiteband Damsel Macro Photography.jpg
Whiteband Damsel, Plectroglyphidodon leucozonus in the Red Sea. In a small cave, there was this wonderful 10 cm damselfish, among the fantastic corals and seagrass.
It is a little bit of an aggressive fish, protecting its territory. This you can see in this photo, where the fish comes right at me. Look closely and you can see the teeth. It did bite me. If you thought macro photography is tough on land… try it underwater!
We hope to visit the Red Sea soon and who knows what we might capture this time with the cameras.
