The Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh

A little over 1 year ago, I read about a fantastic place in Egypt. The Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh.

Located directly upon the shore of the Red Sea, a comfortable thirty minutes from the centre of Hurghada, The Oberoi, Sahl Hasheesh is a spectacular, forty eight acre, all suite hotel, with a certified PADI dive centre and a large private beach.

Inspired by traditional Arabic designs, our luxury hotel in Sahl Hasheesh has luxurious accommodations and restaurants which feature classical, domed ceilings and long corridors. They are illuminated by Arabic style lamps and framed by elegant columns decorated with the traditional Islamic eight point star.

We offer all guests complimentary access to high speed Internet for up to four devices.

Our dream was to visit this fantastic hotel and dive into the Red Sea with our cameras.

Our dream came true in March 2018. And again in March 2019!

The Oberoi is such a magnificent place, I can warmly recommend a short or a long vacation at this beautiful Five Star All Suite Hotel!

sahl-haseesh-home-banner-2If you  like a peaceful and beautiful pool area and beach, rather than a very crowded one, you will love Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh. The seaview is amazing. The waves touch gently the wonderful sandy beach. And there is plenty of space for all visitors to sunbathe on the beach. They have also great service also at the beach. Towels, sunchairs, water and even sunscreen. And the suites, the service and the food… they are magnificent and wonderful!

A Beautiful And Peaceful Morning Moment.jpgIf you like to swim in the sea, snorkel and watch the wonderful Red Sea underwater world, you can do so very easily from the pier. There is also the possibility to scubadive. We like freediving and photographing underwater.

Barracuda and Cornetfish

Red Sea offers a wide range of fish and corals to watch and photograph.

One time in Port Ghalib my husband happened to meet a Barracuda. That is a rare moment. He took some photos of the Barracuda while it was at the cleaning station. Afterwards he admitted that the situtation was very scary!

The barracuda is a ray-finned fish known for its large size and fearsome appearance.

Barracudas are ferocious, opportunistic predators, relying on surprise and short bursts of speed (up to 43 km/h) to overtake their prey. So you better not get too close to it or disturb it 😉

The Cornetfishes (or flutemouths) range up to 200 cm in length. They are as thin and elongated as many eels, but are distinguished by very long snouts.

Many more photos to come on this blog, so stay tuned 🙂

The Chevron Butterflyfish

The Chevron Butterflyfish, also known as Triangulate Butterflyfish, is a species of butterflyfish found in the Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Hawaiian Islands.

I got my first photos of it last week in the Red Sea!

I also got a few great photos of the Clownfish, also called the Anemonefish.

I can warmly recommend to travel to Egypt and find a hotel close to the Red Sea and preferably a coral beach. The best one for us is the Palace at Port Ghalib, close to the Marsa Alam International Airport. Recommend you try it – you will love it!

More photos and stories to come – stay tuned 🙂

Egypt – a pearl among the travel destinations

I have written a few short stories of our trips to Egypt (Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh and Port Ghalib) as well as posted a few posts about the superb and fantastic underwater world in the Red Sea.

Egypt has some terrific places for anyone interested in an exotic culture, sun bathing, swimming, snorkeling and diving.

At the moment there are vacation flights from Finland to Hurghada and Marsa Alam. Sharm el-Sheikh is also a very popular and interesting area. We have been there once. I can recommend to visit it. At the moment there are though no flights from Finland to Sinai area. Hopefully there will be some in the near future.

We have fallen in love with Intercontinental The Palace Port Ghalib Resort -hotel some years ago. The perfect beach (private beach), the coral reefs, the sunny weather, the hotel, the friendly staff, the fabulous food, the sunsets, the splendid rooms and suites – everything.

The hotel beach is spacious and you can relax and enjoy the views.

A great day comes to an end at ICPG

You can also enjoy the wonderful swimming pools. A few of them are huge.

It is so true what the hotel’s social media posts say:

We know there will be days when you want nothing more than to laze by the pool as the soft breeze rustles through the palms … or gaze out over the waters of the Red Sea, which sparkle in the unbroken warmth of the sun all year round.

And if you like a unique and enriching wellness experience, you will be thrilled with the award winning six senses spa at the hotel.

I also recommend warmly to try snorkeling or diving, which ever you prefer. This beach is great, because you can actually snorkel and dive in right from the beach. You don’t have to travel far, unless you want to.

In the harbour, there are boats, which take you out to the sea on diving trips. There are also seascope submarines.

Those who want to enjoy shopping, a cup of coffee or a nice dinner, can stroll to Port Ghalib harbour, which is a nice place.

So, in a few words, what are you waiting for?

Make a reservation and go enjoy a perfect holiday!
