The charming Exquisite Butterflyfish

The Exquisite Butterflyfish is one of my favorite fish. I have seen them many times in the Red Sea.

Usually two fish swim together.

This fish is also called blacktail butterflyfish (in latin Chaetodon austriacus). It is native to the western Indian Ocean but has reached the Mediterranean Sea as a migrant through the Suez Canal.

Here is one of the lovely closeup photos I managed to capture in Sahl Hasheesh, in the Red Sea.

The Lovely Threadfin Butterflyfish

The Threadfin Butterflyfish is a reef-associated fish and its does not migrate. Its depth range is 1-35 meters / 3-115 feet. It can be found in several different types of habitats, including corals reefs, inshore waters and rubble covered bottoms with prolific plant and algae growth.

I have seen and photographed this fish many times in the Red Sea.

Exciting and beautiful Red Sea Underwater World

What a thrill it is to dive into the Red Sea waters. Each time I am thrilled and excited, and I know I will see beautiful sealife, but maybe also something a bit exciting…

Here is two gorgeous Masked Butterflyfish. I edited the silver like sand to turquoise.

It is a joy to see many the different kinds of Parrotfish, Tangs and Angelfish.

In Egypt and Jordan, you can also enjoy sandy dunes, if you do not want to enjoy the thrills and joys of the Red Sea.

I marked with purple balls the places in the Red Sea, where we have been to.

Sometimes I meet the Giant Moray. It is not something I actually want, as this huge predator is not calm and shy, it is a predator that will attack you if you go and disturb it. It hunts at night, but during the day you can see it swimming from one hiding place to another.

We have enjoyed many great breakfast , lunch and dinner meals in Egypt and Jordan. The variety is quite big, sometimes huge, and especially the oriental dishes or sauces are fantastic. Sometimes we choose anyway just a quick, small burger, after photographing in the sea, and the take a nap.

Time To Eat.jpg

It is wonderful to take a walk in the early evening, after the hottest hours are behind us. But before 6 PM when the sun sets quickly.

Once we flew home just before the sunset. The sunsets are so beautiful in Egypt and Jordan.

If you love sealife, welcome to my Redbubble photography page, where you can choose sealife photos as t-shirts, coffee mugs, wall art, pillows, bags, notebooks, bath mats, and greeting cards. Great for the home, and also exotic and unique gift to your friends.

Mysterious, colorful and exciting!

Beautiful Butterflyfish And Corals

The Exquisite Butterflyfish is always wonderful to see, as it is such a beautiful fish. They swim around the corealreef, but are quite shy, so you usually do not get very close to them. Here I had luck and saw them before they saw me 🙂

The Stonefish

Do you know what fish is the most venomous of them all? It is the Stonefish. This one is photographed from a distance with the zoom. Synanceia verrucosa is a fish species known as the reef stonefish (or simply stonefish). It is a carnivorous ray-finned fish with venomous spines.

The bluecheeked butterflyfish

One of my favorites… finally got this close to them. The Masked (Blue-Cheeked) Butterflyfish.  So gorgeous! Chaetodon semilarvatus is found in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, at depths of between 3 and 20 m.

Slingjaw Wrasse 2

When I saw this one, I laughed. It it my first capture of the Slingjaw Wrasse, which sure looks funny while eating 🙂 Epibulus insidiator is a species of wrasse native to the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and the African coast to Hawaii.

Red Sea is full of beauty

We love to dive into the Red Sea. It is full of beautiful fish and corals.
This is a Blackside Hawkfish, a young one:

To watch the colorful corals and the deep blue sea takes your breath away. The view is fascinating.

Beautiful Red Sea World

It is wonderful to go under the corals into a world you did not know exists:

I can warmly recommend to visit Egypt, for example Port Ghalib, where the beaches and the sea life is amazing and wonderful.
